Repotted by Grace (John 19:17-37)

In John 19:16–37, we witness the darkest day in history become God's greatest victory. Using the illustration of repotting African violets, this sermon explores how God often brings growth through disruption, showing that what appears to be an ending is often preparation for new life. As Jesus willingly carried the cross, fulfilled Scripture, cared for others even in His suffering, and declared, "It is finished," He accomplished the work of paying for our sins in full. The cross was not a defeat but the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan, offering forgiveness, reconciliation, and the promise of eternal life to all who believe. Just as a plant must sometimes be uprooted to flourish, God uses even painful seasons to prepare His people for resurrection hope and lasting spiritual growth.
